Specialized in development for content management systems, primarily Wordpress, Joomla!, and Drupal 7. Front-end and back-end development experience and basic server administration, including working with Git and Gitlab, Apache and PHP configuration. Front-end developer for new and existing client sites and experimental PINT, Inc. web technology projects, as well as PHP developer for Wordpress, Joomla! and Drupal projects. Designed and built this Wordpress site based on an existing MODX site the previous developer had built.
Coded a custom Wordpress plugin to handle tracking of product sales for school fundraising campaigns, along with a custom Wordpress theme.
I re-coded the existing custom Wordpress theme from design mockups to refresh the site design.
Also, worked to reduce pageload times and asset sizes to improve the site's performance for mobile and slow-connection users.
Added a Wordpress custom post type screen to allow the not-so-tech-savvy client to quickly and easily add images and details of his construction projects, all while another developer was in the middle of doing a refresh of the theme.
Initial work with this client was administering content and code changes on their existing Drupal 7 site.
Later on, I worked on scraping the site content to create static HTML versions of the pages in preparation for converting the site to a static site generated using Contentful and Metalsmith to improve page load times.
Started work with this client by adding social media share icons to the site, along with converting their Wordpress theme to be responsive for mobile.
Afterwards, I spent time working on a custom PHP Wordpress plugin for bulk importing products and recipes into their Wordpress instance from Excel spreadsheets.
Designed and built the main corporate site for Scentco, Inc. using Wordpress with WooCommerce.
Also contributed product photography for product listings.
The multinational, S&P 500 client I was originally brought on to work with at PINT, Inc., I spent a bulk of my time there working on their multiple Joomla! sites.
Work consisted of advising PINT and KLA's in-house IT on infrastructure changes to improve content development and deployment speed and reliability, as well as custom Joomla component and theme coding.
A fun little site, I designed and coded this custom Wordpress theme and built the site up from scratch.
Theme is original using jQuery for minimal element animations, along with also doing the product photography. Graphics done by me in Photoshop and Illustrator.
I am a web designer and developer living in sunny San Diego, California.
I have a love for all things Web; I am always studying the latest techniques and technology. I am eternally cramming my head full of new skills and designs, all in pursuit of bettering my unique blend of talents, knowledge, and perspective.
On the personal side, I enjoy music, especially genres like classical, alternative dance, nu disco, synthwave, indietronica, and skate punk. I can usually be found chatting it up and and discovering new tracks at Dubtrack.fm (look for CJY) and on a music blog called Indie Discotheque. I also enjoy following professional soccer, of which I am a fan of LA Galaxy and English team Arsenal. Other things I enjoy are watching sci-fi movies, camping, and watching my favorite TV show Jeopardy.
I have a Bachelors of Science degree in Web Design and Interactive Media from Art Institute of California - San Diego, which I finished in 2012.
Most recently, I was a web developer at a web agency called PINT, Inc., where I specialized in development for content management systems, primarily Wordpress, Joomla!, and Drupal 7. While there I picked up a lot of front-end and back-end development experience and learned some server administration skills, including working with Gitlab for auto-deploying code to sites.
Before that I was a web designer and developer at a small company called Scentco, Inc., where I was one of two front-end developers and the sole back-end developer on a creative team of seven.
